Athena Forensics retains enquiry information made to us via the website, that may include your name, email address and the enquiry.

We also may record information such as IP, web browser and operating system used. This is for website performance purposes and does not allow us to specifically identify any visitor, however, enables us to identify the country of any visitor and the general system used.

Legal Basis for the Uses of personal information

GDPR identifies two specific entities/types of classification Data Controllers and Data Processors.

Athena Forensics operate as both a controller and processor of data.

We act as a Data Processor when completing work for our clients as part of the download, analysis, examination and reporting of data and evidence. This is completed, normally under court direction, however, also can be requested as a result of specific instruction by the legal owner of the device. This data is processed with the request and consent of our customers in order to fulfil their instructions.

Our legal basis for processing this data is that it is in the legitimate interests of the third party and that we are processing the data in compliance with GDPR under chapter 3, article 23 (d) the prevention, investigation, detection or prosecution of criminal offences or the execution of criminal penalties, including the safeguarding against and the prevention of threats to public security.

Athena Forensics also act as controllers of data in relation to our employees as well as the maintenance and processing of names and details of our customers and suppliers. We process this data on the basis of the legal contract with our employees and in order to fulfil the requests and requirements of our customers.

Athena Forensics does not market to any individual who has not provided us with their consent to do so.

Any personal information is stored to a secure server and, whilst we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to our website and any such transmission is at your own risk, any information received is in accordance with our procedures to attempt to prevent the unauthorised access of it.

Access to information

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you have the right to access the information held by us about you and you may request the modification or deletion of it.

You can request a copy, an amendment or the deletion of the information that we hold of you by sending us an email making the specific request along with proof of identity, such as a copy of your driving licence or passport. We will confirm receipt of this request and will provide a response within 30 days.
